Amman, May 19 (Petra) – The Jordan Source program, under the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, launched a new initiative on Monday aimed at training Jordanian diplomats to serve as ambassadors for the local technology sector around the world.

During a training session held as part of the initiative, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smeirat, highlighted Jordan’s progress in positioning itself as a regional and global leader in the technology and digital innovation sectors.

Smeirat noted Jordan’s significant achievements in IT outsourcing, offshoring, ICT, creative industries, and digital gaming. He stated that the initiative aligns with the royal vision and the Economic Modernization Vision, both of which emphasize the importance of investing in human capital and promoting digital transformation to enhance economic growth and quality of life.

Dana Darwish, Manager of the Jordan Source program, reviewed key milestones in the sector’s development, citing Jordan’s skilled workforce and strategic location as major assets in establishing the Kingdom as a regional IT leader.

The session featured interventions by three industry leaders who shared their experiences and insights. Representatives from the Ministry’s Youth, Technology, and Jobs Project also delivered presentations highlighting Jordan’s strengths as a tech hub and outlined various government incentives, including full exemptions from income tax, customs duties, and sales tax on ICT services for companies investing in the sector.
