Amman, Aug. 19 (Petra) — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi held a phone call on
Wednesday with Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates
Asaad Al-Shaibani.

During the call, Safadi reiterated Jordan’s condemnation of the
Israeli attack on Abu al-Duhur Military Airport in Idlib Governorate
on Tuesday, rejecting it as a flagrant violation of international law
and a dangerous escalation that reflects an Israeli policy driving
further escalation and conflict in the region.

Safadi affirmed Jordan’s “full” solidarity with Syria and its support
for measures taken to rebuild a free, secure, and stable Syria and
safeguard its territorial integrity, sovereignty, security, and the
safety of its citizens.

Safadi and Al-Shaibani warned of the repercussions of continued
Israeli attacks on Syria for regional security and stability.

The FMs also stressed the need for the international community to
assume its responsibilities and halt the unjustified and escalatory
attacks, as the Syrian government focuses on rebuilding the country
and ensuring its security and stability, while pursuing diplomatic
channels to address outstanding issues with Israel and achieve
de-escalation.

The two ministers highlighted bilateral relations and the operational
cooperation between Jordan and Syria toward building a “strategic”
partnership across various fields, according to a Foreign Ministry
statement.

Discussing regional developments, the two sides reiterated both
countries’ support for efforts to achieve “sustainable” security and
stability by addressing the causes of tension, upholding
international law and state sovereignty, respecting the principles of
good neighborly relations, and refraining from interference in
internal affairs.
