Jordan-US trade deal offers new investment opportunities: Trade Minister

Amman, August 12 (Petra) – “The recently signed Jordan-US reciprocal
trade agreement will deepen economic cooperation and complement the
existing Free Trade Agreement,” Minister of Industry, Trade, and
Supply Yarub Qudah said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a panel organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in
Jordan, Qudah said the agreement expands private-sector opportunities
across goods, services, digital trade, market access, and supply
chains based on mutual benefit and balanced trade relations.

The deal gives Jordanian products, especially apparel and textiles, a
competitive edge in the US market, Qudah said, boosting export
demand, attracting fresh investment, expanding production, and
creating local jobs.

The economic partnership comprises nearly USD2 billion in annual
services trade across IT, tourism, aviation, finance, and research
and development, the minister noted.

He urged businesses to leverage the Kingdom’s strategic position,
skilled workforce, and trade network to establish Jordan as a
regional hub for production, innovation, and exports.

Qudah said the government is committed to partnering with the
American Chamber of Commerce and private sectors in both countries to
integrate Jordanian firms into US supply chains and investment
networks.

“Our goal is for this agreement to be more than an achievement
between two governments,” Qudah said. “We want it to become a
tangible success story for the Jordanian and American business
communities.”
