Amman, Aug. 23 (Petra) — The Jordan Numbering Association (GS1
Jordan), a national reference for the Global Standards System (GS1),
announced Sunday that Jordan has secured membership on the advisory
council of the GS1.

In a statement, GS1 Jordan stated that its Executive Director
Mohammad Zawaneh was elected to represent the Middle East and North
Africa region on the council, reflecting Jordan’s experience in
digital transformation and the application of international
standards.

It explained that the advisory council helps shape the organization’s
strategic direction, including policies related to identification and
numbering standards and initiatives supporting the digital
transformation of global supply chains.

The Association noted that Jordan’s representation on the council
will provide an opportunity to contribute to discussions on regional
priorities and the future development of global supply-chain
standards.

GS1 Jordan indicated that the membership also supports efforts to
strengthen Jordan’s international presence in technology-related
sectors. It added that participation on the council will allow GS1
Jordan to apply its expertise in support of the national economy and
contribute to the development of global supply chains, while helping
Jordanian companies improve their integration into international
markets.

GS1 is a global nonprofit organization that develops widely used
supply-chain identification standards, including barcodes, aimed at
improving efficiency, safety, and transparency across industrial and
commercial sectors.
