Amman, June 17 (Petra) – Chairman of the Senate’s Palestine Committee, Mazen Darwaza, and Rapporteur of its Arab, International and Expatriate Affairs Committee, Ali Ayed, met with Mohamed Khouane, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and the National Community Abroad in the Algerian Parliament.

According to a Senate statement on Tuesday, the two sides discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation.

Darwaza and Ayed underlined the “deep-rooted, brotherly, historic” bilateral relations, which are based on mutual respect and “constructive” cooperation.

Both senators also noted the need to strengthen the frameworks of parliamentary cooperation and intensify coordination with the two countries’ relevant committees to exchange expertise and strengthen economic and trade relations, which would achieve joint development and meet the two people’s aspirations.

Khouane, in turn, highlighted the “strong” bilateral ties, praising the “vital” role played by the Algerian-Jordanian Friendship Group in strengthening parliamentary cooperation and supporting relations.

Khouane called for establishing a “genuine” economic partnership and capitalizing on the opportunities and privileges provided by the Algerian investment law.

Reiterating his country’s “firm” position on the Palestinian and Sahrawi issues, he underscored importance of joint Arab action to serve national and regional interests.
