Amman, May 24 (Petra) -The Eastern Military Zone thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics using remotely controlled balloons at dawn on Saturday, a responsible military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)- Arab Army announced.
In a statement, the source added that the Border Guard Forces in the Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with the military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, spotted, intercepted and downed a group of balloons’ cargo inside Jordanian territory.
After searching the area, authorities found the balloons were equipped with remote-controlled devices and loaded with narcotics and the seized items were transferred to the relevant entities.
The source affirmed the JAF is “constantly” developing its security system on the Kingdom’s border to deal with all forms and methods of infiltration and smuggling, stressing that the Border Guard personnel are “ready” to confront attempts aimed to threaten Jordan’s security and its citizens.
