Amman, July 22 (Petra) –Jordan’s border guards in the Eastern Military Zone thwarted an infiltration attempt on Monday evening.
In a statement Tuesday, a responsible military source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army said border guards detected a group of individuals during their attempt to illegally cross the Kingdom’s border.
The source noted rapid reaction patrols were immediately deployed, applying the rules of engagement, adding that one individual was killed, while the remaining group retreated into Syrian territory.
The source reiterated the JAF’s continued efforts to harness their various capabilities and resources to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling operations, in a bid to preserve the Kingdom’s security and stability.
