Amman, Sep. 9 (Petra) – Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Amani Azzam, on Tuesday received a certificate of appreciation in recognition of the ministry’s “distinguished” efforts in implementing an impact assessment (IA) study for legislation and policies.
The award was presented during the “Ceremony Announcing Effectiveness of the Regulation on Good Regulation and Impact Assessment of Legislation and Policies No. (16) of 2025,” held in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
During the announcement ceremony, Director of the Ministry’s Planning and International Cooperation Directorate, Bushra Abbadi, reviewed the key challenges facing the ministry’s team in preparing the impact assessment strategy related to energy demand management.
Abbadi urged Jordanian government agencies to adopt the impact assessment methodology, which represents “an investment in the quality of decisions.”
Abbadi added that “systematic” analysis contributes to reduce economic, social, and environmental costs in the long term.
As per its rationale, Good Regulatory System and Impact Assessment of Legislation and Policies No. (16) of 2025 aims to enhance quality of legislation and public policies through impact assessment mechanisms and ensure their alignment with national priorities.
This effort contributes to raising efficiency and adequacy of the decision-making process, as part of the government’s efforts to consolidate the principles of good governance and strengthen partnerships with international institutions.
Minister of State for Public Sector Development, Badria Belbisi, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Touqan, officials from ministries and public and representatives from the German Embassy attended the ceremony.
