Jordan’s youth ‘key’ to achieve development, modernization-Minister

Amman, July 20 (Petra) –Jordan’s youth are the “cornerstone” of Jordan’s development and modernization, and the “effective force” in building its future, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Moneim Odat, on Sunday said.

The minister’s remarks came during a meeting with leaders of the Labor Party and young women and men from the “Watan-Homeland” initiative, under the theme: “Youth: Engines of Change.”

Talking at the meeting, Odat noted the Kingdom’s modernization project provided youth with a legislative and political environment to exercise their role in political life and participate “actively” in public life, leading to a party majority in parliament.

The minister added that this drive was achieved under the Kingdom’s constitutional amendments, legislations for regulating political life, and the relevant regulations.

Odat said political engagement can only play an “effective and influential” role within active programmatic parties to express citizens’ concerns and aspirations.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of the political parties’ role in enhancing youth participation in partisan work.

“Political modernization is based on a pure political will and national desire to enhance engagement in the decision-making process and achieve political effectiveness, ” he pointed out.

On its goals, he noted this vision aims to ensure youth presence in Jordan’s political life and engage in partisan activities, which would enable them to take part in the decision-making process and build their present and future in all areas.
