Amman, Aug. 8 (Petra) — The Jordan Press Association’s board on
Saturday praised a decision by the Lower House of Parliament
concerning provisions on advertising in the draft Real Estate
Ownership Law.

The board, which convened for its weekly meeting chaired by JPA
President Tareq Al-Momani, also praised the position of government
communication minister and government spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani
in support of print media and efforts to preserve its advertising
revenues, saying this would help strengthen the sustainability of
national press institutions.

The board also commended the minister’s support for demands submitted
by the Jordan Press Association on the matter.

Meanwhile, the board reviewed the outcomes of a meeting of the News
Websites Committee, which put forward several proposals, most notably
documenting the contracts of editors-in-chief of websites with the
Jordan Press Association through standardized contracts or by
registering existing contracts, in a move aimed at safeguarding the
rights of editors-in-chief who are association members.

The board also reviewed the work plans of the Women’s Committee and
the Cultural Committee ahead of the implementation of their programs
in the coming period.

As part of efforts to complete the formation of the association’s
committees, the Palestine Committee elected colleague Imad Al-Nashash
as chairman and Mahmoud Al-Aboud as rapporteur. The Sports Committee
elected Shibli Al-Shatrat as chairman and Habes Al-Jarrah as
rapporteur.
