Amman, May 24 (Petra) – The Jordan Press Association (JPA) reviewed several pressing matters during a session held Saturday, with a primary focus on the progress of its self-funded health insurance project, part of broader efforts to enhance services for its members.

The JPA Council pledged to take firm legal action against individuals falsely presenting themselves as journalists or media professionals on social media platforms. The council emphasized that such measures are necessary to preserve the integrity of the profession and ensure compliance with the law.

It also urged media institutions to regularize the status of their employees in accordance with the provisions of the Press Association Law, stressing the importance of safeguarding journalists’ legal and professional rights.

As part of efforts to modernize its institutional and media presence, the council approved a new digital visual identity for the association. The initiative aims to refresh the JPA’s public image and boost its digital footprint, aligning with technological advances and reflecting the association’s professional mission.

The council expressed appreciation for several media outlets that have recently taken steps to resolve outstanding financial obligations, including reaching settlements with the association.

It also approved the full disbursement of cooperative fund entitlements to six members, including four heirs of deceased members, and authorized partial financial assistance for two others, in line with the association’s established support order. The council reaffirmed its commitment to securing financial aid for members in need.

During the session, JPA President Tarek Momani briefed council members on meetings he held last week with Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, Minister of State for Public Sector Development, Khair Abu Seileek, Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abul Samen, and Director General of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) Jumana Atiyat. These meetings aimed to strengthen cooperation between the association and various government institutions in support of the journalism community.
