Amman, Aug. 10 (Petra) — University of Jordan President Nathir
Obeidat and U.S. Ambassador to Jordan Jim Holtsnider discussed on
Monday ways to strengthen cooperation between the university and the
U.S. Embassy.

During a meeting at the university, Holtsnider was briefed on the
American Corner and the programs it offers to highlight U.S.
excellence in entrepreneurship and business, innovation and
technology, and American history and culture.

Obeidat, in the presence of several university vice presidents and
the director of the library unit, stressed the importance of the
American Corner in broadening students’ horizons and providing
opportunities to participate in a range of cultural and academic
activities that help develop their skills and enhance their exposure
to different cultures and experiences, adding value to their academic
and professional careers.

Holtsnider praised the efforts of the university, its library, and
the student volunteers at the American Corner, as well as their role
in ensuring the success of its activities and programs. He
highlighted the importance of the opportunities it provides students
to learn about the United States, practice English, and interact with
their peers.

University Library Unit Director Mujahed Thneibat said the American
Corner was an important part of the library’s facilities, serving as
a space for cultural exchange and engagement with extracurricular
activities. He noted that the university’s philosophy is based on
exposing students to the outside world.

The American Corner provides a space for learning about the United
States and its culture through a range of activities and events held
there.
