Mafraq, June 19 (Petra) – The Director General of the National Agricultural Research Center, Ibrahim Rawashdeh, announced that the Khanasri Animal Wealth and Pasture Research Station has performed approximately 11,000 artificial insemination procedures on sheep and goats since the beginning of the year, benefiting 250 farmers across the Kingdom.
During a visit to the station on Thursday, Rawashdeh praised the technical expertise of the station’s specialized personnel and highlighted the facility’s advanced laboratory capabilities, which position it as a national leader in artificial insemination. He added that the station’s laboratory will be developed into a specialized national and regional center serving all areas of Jordan.
The planned center will offer integrated services, including the collection, preparation, and genetic testing of semen from high-quality local stallions, as well as diagnostic services for reproductive diseases that impact insemination success rates.
Rawashdeh noted that the center will also provide professional training and certification programs for veterinary and technical staff from both the public and private sectors. These will cover procedures such as artificial insemination, semen freezing and transport, and disease diagnostics.
He urged researchers to intensify efforts in livestock research and genetic improvement, aiming to enhance local meat and milk production while raising the quality of local breeds. He also emphasized the importance of offering technical advisory services to farmers and herders in areas such as herd management, nutrition, and reproductive health.
