Kuwait City, March 22 (QNA) – Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced on Sunday that it had lodged a protest letter with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) over gross violations and Iranian attacks on the nation’s sovereign airspace, as well as the facilities of Kuwait International Airport.

These attacks represent a flagrant violation of charters and international agreements that regulate civil aviation, exposing the safety of passengers, carriers, and operators at the airport and its facilities to serious risks, DGCA noted in a statement.

DGCA further clarified that these incidents caused disruptions in air navigation and brought all flights to a standstill, in addition to causing material losses for the civil aviation sector, human casualties, and exposing the security and safety of passengers and facilities to danger.

The letter stressed that it is vitally important for ICAO to take essential measures to ensure protection of airspace and civilian facilities, as well as to prevent the recurrence of such violations, in a way that maintains the safety and security of civil aviation and Kuwait’s sovereign airspace, as well as facilities operated by the airport, in accordance with international standards.
