Labor Ministry, Jordan Post Launch Initiative to Create 250 Jobs Through Vehicle Financing

Amman, May 22 (Petra) – The Development and Employment Fund (DEF) and the Jordan Post Company (JPC) on Thursday signed an agreement at the Ministry of Labor to finance the purchase of vehicles including cars and scooters for employment purposes across the Kingdom’s governorates.

The agreement, which aims to support job creation for Jordanians, was signed by DEF Director General Mansour Wreikat and JPC Director General Hanadi Tayeb, in the presence of Minister of Labor Khaled Bakar and Chairman of the Jordan Post Company’s Board of Directors Sami Daoud.

Bakar said the agreement supports the second phase of the Ministry’s labor market regulation plan, which emphasizes youth training and employment. He noted that the agreement will create 250 job opportunities in its initial phase.

He stressed that the agreement aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision and its executive plan, a cornerstone of the government’s comprehensive reform agenda under royal directives. The initiative also supports national goals by facilitating job creation for Jordanian men and women.

The DEF has allocated JD1 million to finance the initiative, with the possibility of increasing the amount based on demand from targeted beneficiaries aged 18 to 45, Bakar noted.

Daoud explained that applicants who apply through the “Barid Jo” employment platform will receive free training at the Jordan Post Company’s specialized academy before obtaining financing from the DEF. He described the academy as unique in the Middle East and instrumental in preparing youth for employment by familiarizing them with work procedures and the postal application.

He added that the initiative came at the directive of the Prime Minister and is being implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Labor, the Development and Employment Fund, and the Jordan Post Company. Beneficiaries will receive postal delivery orders, helping them secure income amid growing demand driven by the rise of e-commerce.

For his part, Wreikat stated that each loan under the agreement could reach up to JD15,000, depending on the type of vehicle. He said borrowers would benefit from a three-month grace period and repayment terms of up to 72 months, with a preferential profit rate and flexible conditions.

He affirmed that the fund aims to promote government policies encouraging young Jordanians to manage their own entrepreneurial ventures, thereby contributing to poverty reduction and lower unemployment rates.
