Beirut, July 26 (QNA) – The Lebanese army said on Sunday that Israeli forces continue to breach existing ceasefire understandings in southern Lebanon, citing shelling, the demolition of homes and other military activities.

In a statement, the army said Israeli forces have continued systematically demolishing and bulldozing homes while shelling several areas and opening machine-gun fire in southern Lebanon, including Kfartebnit in Nabatieh Governorate; Haddatha and Kounine in Bint Jbeil District; and Ibl al-Saqi, Khiam, Mansouri, Buyout Al Sayyad and Majdal Zoun in Tyre District.

The statement added that Israeli forces have also continued to seize rubble from border areas, destroyed a water project belonging to the National Litani River Authority in the town of Markaba in Marjayoun District, and set fire to centuries-old olive trees and large areas of agricultural land, most recently on the outskirts of Aitaroun in Bint Jbeil District.

It said Israeli troops also opened fire near Lebanese army positions in Kfartebnit, Nabatieh Al Fawqa and Zawtar Al Gharbiya, hampering the army’s operations.

Meanwhile, the army said it is facilitating the return of residents to Zawtar Al Gharbiya while ensuring their safety. It added that it is operating in Frun and Srifa in coordination with the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L) as part of its ongoing deployment across southern Lebanon.

The army said the ongoing attacks are delaying its full deployment under the existing understandings, preventing residents from returning home and hindering efforts to restore stability in southern Lebanon.

Separately, Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) said heavy Israeli artillery shelling hit Ali Al Taher hill on the outskirts of Nabatieh and the border town of Mais Al Jabal. (QNA)
