Beirut, August 03 (QNA) – Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam affirmed that his government is working to achieve successive Israeli withdrawals culminating in a complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory. He also highlighted the international contacts being conducted by Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun with friendly countries and through the monitoring mechanism to secure international support for ending Israeli aggression.

Salam said the government continues to implement a plan to address the repercussions of the attacks in southern Lebanon. The plan includes assessing damage, removing rubble, reopening roads, beginning bridge repairs next Wednesday, and ensuring the provision of essential services, particularly water, electricity, communications, and other utilities.

Meanwhile, the seventh round of direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel is set to begin tomorrow in Rome, Italy, and will continue for three days.

The talks reflect Lebanese efforts to achieve successive Israeli withdrawals from Lebanese territory leading to a complete withdrawal, as well as to halt Israeli aggression, particularly bulldozing, bombing, and the demolition of homes.

A Lebanese official source told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the first item on the agenda of the talks will be the ceasefire and Israeli attacks, which the source said contradict the “framework agreement” reached on June 26.

The source added that the Lebanese side will propose designating pilot areas for the Israeli withdrawal, with the second phase expected to include the Bint Jbeil or Khiam area. The negotiations will involve political, military, and legal delegations.

The source said the military delegation will present maps and documents outlining its deployment in Zawtar Al-Gharbiyah in southern Lebanon, along with plans for deployment in areas from which Israeli forces are expected to withdraw. (QNA)
