Minister of Minerals, Nour Al-Daim Taha, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Sudan, Sadik Sillah, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and develop cooperation between the two countries in the mining sector. During the meeting at the Ministry of Minerals headquarters in Khartoum on Thursday, the minister affirmed the strength of Sudanese-Sierra Leonean relations and Sudan’s keenness to advance them towards broader horizons. He noted that both countries possess significant mineral resources and potential that could be utilized to achieve mutual interests and benefit from the exchange of expertise and experience in exploration, production and the development of mining industries. The minister expressed the Ministry of Minerals’ readiness to coordinate with its Sierra Leonean counterpart and the relevant institutions in both countries to prepare and sign a memorandum of understanding in the minerals sector. The proposed memorandum would facilitate the exchange of expertise and technical information, organize mutual visits and strengthen cooperation in exploration, production and the development of mining industries. He stressed the importance of organizing meetings and conferences bringing together African mineral-producing countries to exchange experiences and expertise, enhance African cooperation and ensure the optimal utilization of the continent’s abundant mineral wealth. For his part, the Sierra Leonean ambassador affirmed his country’s keenness to cooperate with Sudan and establish strong relations that would benefit the peoples of both countries. He expressed his pleasure at holding the meeting in Khartoum and stressed the importance of joint efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and coordinate on issues of common interest to both countries.BH/BH
