Khartoum, May 18, 2026 (SUNA) – The Minister of Federal Governance and Rural Development, Engineer Mohamed Kortikela Salih, met Sunday in his office with the Wali of Al-Gadarif State, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Hassan. The Wali presented a comprehensive report on the situation in the state, confirming stability in overall security and public conditions, except for the water file, which remains one of the most urgent challenges facing the state government despite ongoing efforts. He reviewed ongoing interventions to secure sustainable water supply in both rural and urban areas, including drilling groundwater wells and activating alternative pumping stations. The Minister praised the state government’s efforts to maintain stability, stressing the importance of achieving comprehensive water security and calling for innovative and lasting solutions to the water crisis in Al-Gadarif.BH/BH
