Khartoum, June 23, 2026 (SUNA) — The Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Mua’tasim Ahmed Saleh, has announced the ministry’s intention to implement urgent interventions in South Kordofan State aimed at strengthening social protection. During a meeting on Tuesday with Wali of South Kordofan Mohamed Ibrahim Abdel-Karim and members of the state government, the Minister said he had issued directives to ministry units to launch emergency interventions, including cash support, health insurance, livelihood assistance, and other programmes expected to improve citizens’ living conditions. He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to improving social indicators, noting that South Kordofan has faced difficult conditions due to the ongoing war. For his part, the Wali of South Kordofan said he briefed the Minister on the negative impacts of the war in the state, particularly the rising numbers of displaced persons, widows, and orphans.He also called for strengthening the capacities of state personnel through training and professional development.BH/BH
