Khartoum, June 6, 2026 (SUNA) – Governor of Darfur Region Minni Arko Minnawi met in Khartoum on Saturday with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy, Pekka Haavisto, to discuss the conditions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and ways to deliver examinations to Darfur students living as refugees in Chad. In a Facebook post, the governor said the meeting addressed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the region and ways to facilitate the return of citizens to their homes by removing the causes of displacement, as well as efforts to secure the release of abducted civilians. He added that the discussions also covered mechanisms for delivering examinations to students from the region currently residing in Chad.BH/BH
