Amman, July 15 (Petra) – Ministry of Transport and Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at exchanging scientific and practical expertise to establish a ministry-based quality management system, in accordance with the best approved standard specifications.
Talking at the signing ceremony, Minister of Transport, Wissam Tahtamouni, noted the importance of quality and cooperation with JAMS in this vital field, adding that this step contributes to developing operations and raising “efficiency” of the ministry’s performance.
Tahtamouni praised the JAMS’s “prominent” role, as the first maritime education institution in Jordan, known for its good reputation regionally and internationally, due to its tangible achievements.
The JAMS, she stated, represents “a source of pride for Jordan and is on par with international academies,” thanks to its management and professional staff, its “advanced educational services and its alumni discipline and professionalism,” which enhance its position and stronly promote its reputation in maritime circles.
In turn, JAMS President, Dr. Mustafa Massad, said the academy continues its efforts to remain among the world’s “leading” academies.
Massad stated the academy’s graduates, of various nationalities, hold Jordanian degrees and assume leadership positions in the maritime sector, both in ship management and maritime institutions in several Arab countries.
Massad indicated that the academy currently hosts students from more than 60 nationalities, who hold Jordanian degrees.
The academy, he noted, will remain a “key” supporter of the Ministry of Transport, thanking Tahtamouni for her continued support and interest in the maritime transport sector.
The memo aims to strengthen the framework for joint cooperation and expertise exchange aimed at establishing a ministry-based quality management system that aligns with requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2015.
