Amman, May 21 (Petra) – The Jordanian National Centre for Epidemics and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC) and Electronic Health Solutions (Hakeem program) on Wdnesday signed a memorandum of cooperation (MoU) in several areas to promote community-related health awareness.

The memo, which was signed by the JCDC President, Dr. Adel Belbisi, and the company’s Executive Director, Omar Ayesh, aims to enhance efforts in the health sector by developing and modernizing the Kingdom’s health information systems.

Talking at the signing ceremony, Belbisi stressed the importance of cooperation in providing medical information to all stakeholders to improve the Kingdom’s health system to integrate future upgrades.

Belbisi stated Jordan’s primary health care has become the “cornerstone” of the health system, as it represents the first line of defense in providing the necessary medical capabilities to citizens “quickly and with high quality.”

JCDC, he noted, is working to develop and document a mechanism for conducting practical research with all relevant parties, aimed to launch a database on related issues, mainly animal and plant data, which would be used by decision-makers to take action in this regard.

For his part, Ayesh said the memo comes within the framework of the company’s ongoing commitment to strengthen national partnerships to enhance health awareness and develop professional capabilities of medical personnel.

Ayesh noted cooperation with the JCDC represents a “strategic” step to unify efforts in the fields of public health and develop health information systems.

The MoU will also contribute to enhance community health awareness, build national capacities, and improve quality of Jordan’s healthcare services to keep pace with future health challenges, he pointed out.

Ayesh added that the memo supports the ongoing updating process of Electronic Library of Medicine – Jordan (ELM) by exchanging modern scientific resources, developing a community-based health and educational content, organizing joint awareness campaigns and programs, and expert training workshops on using medical databases.
