Amman, May 17 (Petra) – Three leading Jordanian medical societies, in collaboration with AstraZeneca, Saturday announced the launch of two pivotal national initiatives designed to improve the diagnostic pathways and therapeutic management of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) across Jordan.
The Jordanian Society of Nephrology and Renal Transplantation (JSNRT), the Jordanian Society of Medical Laboratory Specialists (JSMLS), and the Jordanian Society for Laboratories are spearheading these efforts.
In a statement, the JSNRT detailed that these initiatives were unveiled during the proceedings of its annual International Conference.
The launch addresses an urgent national imperative to enhance early CKD detection rates and curtail instances of late-stage diagnosis through the implementation of clearly defined diagnostic tools and the establishment of a robust national consensus.
The first initiative focuses on the standardization of laboratory test reporting for kidney function assessments, adhering to a unified national protocol.
The second initiative involves the issuance of a national multidisciplinary consensus statement on the comprehensive screening, diagnosis, and management of CKD.
The societies emphasized that standardizing laboratory reporting and equipping clinicians with unambiguous, locally-contextualized guidelines represents a critical advancement in elevating the quality of care for patients with kidney disease.
These measures are anticipated to mitigate disease progression to advanced stages by facilitating earlier detection and thereby improving patient health outcomes.
The JSNRT International Conference saw the release of Jordan’s first national multidisciplinary consensus statement on the foundational principles of CKD screening, diagnosis, and management.
This comprehensive document, developed with contributions from physicians across multiple specialties and various Jordanian medical societies, constitutes the first localized clinical guideline that explicitly considers the operational realities of Jordan’s healthcare system.
It provides a unified, evidence-based scientific framework intended to streamline early CKD detection, ensure diagnostic accuracy, and promote the adoption of contemporary therapeutic protocols.
