Dead Sea, Aug 29 (Petra) — Jordan has offered a historical model in political and democratic work, Independent Election Commission (IEC) Chairman Musa Maytah said on Saturday, noting amendments to electoral legislation to develop political life in the Kingdom.

He spoke at a ceremony where the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and the Jordan Partners Foundation launched the Naumann Simulation Program for Parliamentary Work (NAUSIM), to enhance youth participation in political life, and develop their knowledge and skills in party and parliamentary work and decision-making.

The IEC began documenting the history of political action in Jordan within the Jordanian narrative, underlining that political action is an integral part of the national identity and heritage, said Maytah.

Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s Regional Director Jörg Dehnert noted that continued support of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, for young people contributed to strengthening their presence in various areas of development.

The German foundation’s work in Jordan, he said, is consistent with this orientation through supporting the integration of young people into political life and enabling them to participate in decision-making, while emphasizing the importance of supporting girls and encouraging them to engage in political and leadership work.

For her part, Reem Badran, head of Jordan Partners Board, said the program offers a practical model for development work within the political and economic modernization paths and the development of public administration.

The simulation, she said, goes beyond the concept of traditional training to provide a practical space that helps young people understand the modernization paths and interact with them.

Director General of Jordan Partners Ali Fayyad said the program aims to provide young people with legislative and administrative knowledge related to the work of the House of Representatives, and to develop their skills in partisan and political work.

Friedrich Naumann Foundation Projects Manager Aya Al-Majali said investing in young people’s capabilities and skills in dialogue, leadership, and decision-making is an investment in Jordan’s future, noting that the simulation gives them an opportunity to gain experience, assume responsibility, and actively participate in public life.
