Netherlands Pledges Additional €4.5 Million in Aid to Gaza, Backs Jordan-Led Relief Efforts

Amman, Aug. 6 (Petra) – Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof has announced an additional €1.5 million in humanitarian aid to support relief efforts in Gaza, earmarked specifically for Jordan’s land corridor and UN-coordinated aid operations in the besieged enclave.

In a statement issued by the Dutch embassy in Amman, the Netherlands also pledged €3 million to the Netherlands Red Cross to bolster the humanitarian response of the Palestine Red Crescent Society in Gaza.

Prime Minister Schoof expressed deep appreciation for Jordan’s leading role in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, particularly its coordination of the ongoing air bridge.

The statement added that the Netherlands is once again joining the international coalition conducting humanitarian airdrops over Gaza. Earlier, the Dutch Ministry of Defence deployed a C-130 transport aircraft and crew to Jordan to support the mission.

The Netherlands plans to carry out daily airdrops for two weeks in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces, as well as European, Arab, and international partners. The operation is expected to deliver 16 tonnes of food and medical supplies per day.

Reaffirming its stance, the Netherlands renewed its call for an immediate end to the war in Gaza, unimpeded humanitarian access, and the release of all prisoners.

Since the start of the conflict, the Dutch government has allocated €86.2 million in targeted humanitarian assistance for Gaza, in addition to non-earmarked humanitarian contributions to multilateral organizations that can be redirected to support civilians in the Strip.
