Oslo, August 28 (QNA) – The Royal Palace in Norway announced on Friday the passing of King Harald V at the age of 89.
In an official statement, the palace confirmed that King Harald V died this morning at Oslo University Hospital, following a sharp deterioration in his health.
King Harald V was admitted to the hospital on Aug. 17 to undergo treatment for a severe blood infection.
Harald V ascended the throne in 1991, succeeding his late father, King Olav V.
Following the King’s passing, Crown Prince Haakon automatically succeeds his father to the throne. (QNA)
