OIC Condemns Houthi Attacks on Makkah and Madinah

Jeddah, October 24 (QNA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the heinous attacks carried out by the Houthi group on Saturday against Makkah and Madinah, as well as the governorates of Taif and Jeddah.

In a statement, the organization’s secretary-general, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, said that targeting Wadi Al-Maghamis, near Arafat, with a ballistic missile demonstrated the perpetrators’ disregard for the sanctity of holy sites and the safety of civilians.

The secretary-general warned of the serious consequences of continued attacks and stressed the need for Muslim countries to act collectively and adopt a firm, responsible stance to deter the Houthi group and put an end to its criminal actions.

Ould Cheikh Ahmed reaffirmed the organization’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures the kingdom takes to protect its security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, citizens and residents. He stressed that violating the sanctity of Islamic holy sites constituted an attack on the entire Muslim world, requiring a firm international response and urgent action to halt the attacks and hold those responsible accountable.
