Amman, Aug 18 (Petra) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Monday strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the Ofra settlement in the occupied West Bank, along with his “racist remarks” on the importance of maintaining settlements and preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state.
In a statement posted on its official website, the OIC said the visit represents a continuation of Israel’s blatant violations of international law and United Nations resolutions, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, both of which affirm the illegality of occupation and settlement activity and call for their immediate end.
The OIC said Netanyahu’s visit and accompanying hostile statements reflect Israel’s expansionist and colonial plans and its determination to defy the will of the international community while undermining all efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region based on the two-state solution.
The organization called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities in ending the occupation and colonial settlement activity and in providing international protection for the Palestinian people.
