Oman
Welcomes UK, Canada, Australia’s Recognition of State of Palestine
Muscat,
21 Sep (ONA) — The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the announcements by the
United Kingdom (UK), Canada, and Australia in recognizing the State of
Palestine. Oman considers this step a very important development in the context
of international efforts aimed at achieving a two-state solution and
establishing the foundations of security and peace in the region.
In
a statement issued today by the Foreign Ministry, Oman reiterated its call to
other members of the international community that have not yet recognized the
State of Palestine to take similar steps. This, the statement said, would
guarantee the Palestinian people their legitimate right to establish their
independent state on the 4 June 1967 borders, with Al Quds Al
Sharqiya (East Jerusalem) as its capital.
