Amman, Dec. 23 (Petra) – A person was killed and two others were injured on Tuesday after an old explosive device detonated at a scrapyard in the Al-Dulayl area, northeastern Amman.
The Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said a report was received stating that three people from the Al-Dulayl area were evacuated to the hospital, and one of them soon passed away after they sustained injuries while working in scrap metal collection, while the injured remain under treatment.
The spokesperson added that investigations confirmed the individuals were collecting scrap, including an old explosive object, and when they attempted to cut it, it exploded on them. Specialists took over cordoning off the site and investigating the incident.
The spokesperson urged scrap collectors to exercise caution and remain vigilant while working, advising them not to tamper with or move any suspicious objects to their homes and to report such items immediately to the relevant authorities.
