Amman, July 27 (Petra) More than 30 people were killed in an attack on a Catholic church in northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, local officials said Sunday.
According to Agence France-Presse, the assault took place overnight from Saturday to Sunday in the town of Komanda, in Ituri province, and left dozens dead.
Father Aim Lukana Digo of the Holy Anuarite Church said 31 people were confirmed killed and six others seriously wounded, with several young people still reported missing. He added that seven additional bodies were found on the outskirts of the town.
Christophe Muniandero, a coordinator at the Convention for the Respect of Human Rights, placed the death toll at 38.
