Amman, May 26 (Petra) – The Royal Tank Museum hosted a large national celebration on Sunday to mark the 79th Independence Day of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, drawing a wide public turnout of more than 8,000 visitors from various age groups.

The special national day event, held within the museum grounds, featured activities that reflected pride, belonging, and a tribute to Jordan’s rich military history, embodying the deep bond between Jordanians, their homeland, and the Hashemite leadership.

The museum presented a comprehensive program combining education, entertainment, and a national military display. The celebration included a temporary exhibition documenting the independence era and Jordan’s military development, along with educational and interactive activities aimed at children to instill national values and raise awareness of the history of the Jordanian Armed Forces.

Live military performances were also featured, with participation from the Jordanian Armed Forces Band, Public Security Band, the Silent Infantry Team of the Royal Special Guard, the Freefall Team/Paratroopers of King Abdullah II Special Forces Group, and the Taekwondo Team from the Military Sports Federation. The event also showcased a live display of tanks and military vehicles dating from the Great Arab Revolt and independence periods, alongside performances by horsemen and camel riders.

The celebration included artistic and heritage segments presented by Jordanian artist Saad Abu Tayeh and the Jordanian Badia Knights Arts and Heritage Group, which received enthusiastic response from the audience.

Retired Brigadier General Nark Sejaja, Director General of the Royal Tank Museum, said the Independence Day celebration at the museum embodies their vision that the museum is not merely a place for preserving Jordan’s military heritage but a national monument aimed at conveying the deep values and meanings of independence to generations, fostering loyalty and belonging to the land and its king.

He added that the large turnout reflects the community’s trust in the educational and cultural role of the museum and motivates them to continue developing their celebrations to always meet the aspirations of the nation and its citizens.
