Islamabad, July 30 (QNA) – Pakistan affirmed today its continued efforts to revive negotiations between the United States and Iran with the aim of de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Pakistani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Tahir Hussain Andarabi explained during a press conference that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and the joint statement between Pakistan and Qatar remain the fundamental framework for achieving a sustainable peace process. He stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only way to overcome current tensions.
He stated that his country is exerting its utmost efforts to bring the parties back to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and calls for maximum restraint and a commitment to resuming technical talks. He noted that the security situation in the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz remains fragile despite the relative calm of recent days.
Andarabi also expressed his hope for de-escalation, a peaceful settlement, and the resumption of technical talks between the parties. He indicated that Pakistan continues its diplomatic and strategic efforts to support regional stability and contribute to advancing the peace process.
It should be noted that the United States launched airstrikes last night against a number of sites in Iran. (QNA)
