Islamabad, April 16 (QNA) – HE Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that his meeting with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, discussed regional developments, particularly in the Gulf region, stressing the importance of de-escalation, dialogue, and enhanced international coordination to ensure security and stability.
In a post on his official X account, he said: “I had a most warm and cordial meeting with my dear brother, HH the Amir, in Doha today. I thanked HH the Amir on behalf of the people of Pakistan for the exceptionally warm and generous gesture of sending Qatar’s fighter jets to escort our aircraft as it entered Qatari airspace,” noting the strength of bilateral relations.
He added that the meeting discussed bilateral ties and reaffirmed commitment to enhancing cooperation in key areas including security, defense, and energy, describing the talks as reflecting the depth of historical relations between the two countries.
HE Shehbaz Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of attacks targeting Qatar and other countries in the region, and expressed full solidarity with the Qatari people. (QNA)
