Ramallah, March 30 (QNA) – The Palestinian Presidency expressed its strong rejection and condemnation of the Israeli occupation authorities’ approval of the law allowing execution of Palestinian prisoners, considering it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention, which guarantees protection for individuals and fair trial rights, and a violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

In a statement today, the Palestinian Presidency affirmed that this law constitutes a war crime against the Palestinian people and comes within the context of the escalating policies and measures pursued by the occupation authorities throughout the Palestinian territory, in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

It stressed that these laws and measures will not succeed in breaking the will of the Palestinian people or undermining their steadfastness, nor will they deter them from continuing their legitimate struggle to achieve their legitimate rights.

The Palestinian Presidency also warned of the serious repercussions of such racist laws, which would increase tension and escalation, and threaten the chances of achieving security and stability in the region, reiterating that the issue of prisoners will remain at the heart of its priorities, and that it will continue to work at all international levels to ensure their protection, release, and accountability for those responsible for the crimes committed against them.
