Ramallah, July 26 (QNA) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday called for urgent international action to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

According to the Palestinian news agency (WAFA), President Abbas sent letters to world leaders, the European Union, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and the President of the UN Security Council, warning of the serious escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories driven by continued attacks by Israeli occupation forces and colonists.

The letters said the attacks had resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties, widespread damage to property, the burning of homes, religious sites, trees, and agricultural land, and attacks on Palestinian villages and communities.

President Abbas said the situation had gone beyond isolated acts of violence and reflected a systematic Israeli policy aimed at creating new realities on the ground through settlement expansion, escalating colonists’ violence, and undermining the institutions of the Palestinian National Authority.

He said such policies were deliberately undermining the prospects for a two-state solution and threatening regional security and stability.

The Palestinian President called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities by taking urgent and concrete steps to pressure the Israeli government to halt attacks by colonists, hold those responsible accountable, end all settlement activities, and implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which reaffirmed the illegality of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

He also called for international protection for the Palestinian people and urged the international community to ensure that Israel, as the occupying Power, complies with its obligations under international law and international humanitarian law. (QNA)
