Port Sudan, April 1, 2026 (SUNA) — The People’s Association praised the vital humanitarian role of international, regional, and national organizations, alongside community initiatives, in supporting the Sudanese people during the recent crisis.Speaking at a press conference, Association Chairman Lieutenant General Omar Nimr said the initiative reflects national gratitude toward those who stood by Sudan, noting that 34 organizations—10 international, 17 regional, and seven national—will be honored. The initiative is sponsored by Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Malik Agar and overseen by Foreign Minister Mohi-Eddin Salem.Nimr described the recognition as a “badge of honor,” commending contributions across education, healthcare, relief, shelter, and infrastructure, and acknowledged support from countries including Kuwait, China, Somalia, and Djibouti. He also announced plans to launch a community peace campaign to strengthen social cohesion.Dr. Rashida Sayid affirmed the Sudanese people’s enduring gratitude, noting that the award ceremony will take place Saturday in Port Sudan.Meanwhile, Naji Al-Shafie, head of the Sudanese Coalition for Education for All, said the initiative highlights the contributions of humanitarian actors and called on others to join efforts to support Sudan during this critical period.BH/BH
