Peter Shea Assumes Duties as New U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Amman

Amman, June 29 (Petra) – In a handover ceremony held at the United States Embassy in Amman, outgoing Chargé d’Affaires Rohit Nepal formally transferred leadership responsibilities to newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires Peter Shea.

Nepal concluded his three-year diplomatic mission in Jordan and is set to assume his next post in Washington, D.C.

According to the embassy, Shea, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, most recently served as a senior advisor in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs. His extensive diplomatic experience includes assignments in Washington and international postings in Istanbul, Cairo, Baghdad, and Moscow.

Notably, Shea is well-acquainted with Jordan, having previously served as Deputy Political Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Amman from 2013 to 2016.
