Amman, December 17 (Petra) – Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan on Wednesday met with Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, on the sidelines of the 45th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, currently being held in Amman.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several issues aimed to strengthen joint Arab action, particularly the region’s developments and the current efforts made to address them.
The PM affirmed Jordan’s appreciation and support for the Arab League’s efforts, including strengthening the social protection system.
The PM noted Jordan, which hosts the permanent headquarters of the Arab Centre for Social Policy Studies and Poverty Eradication in Arab States, will provide the necessary support to enable the center to fulfill its mission.
In turn, Aboul Gheit emphasized the importance of the “Amman Declaration,” expected to be issued at the conclusion of the conference today, in supporting the fields of Arab social work, commending Jordan’s efforts in promoting joint Arab action.
Minister of Social Development Wafaa Bani Mustafa and Arab League Assistant Secretary-General, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, attended the meeting.
