Amman, Aug. 10 (Petra) — The Prime Minister’s Office announced on
Monday that a Cabinet reshuffle in Prime Minister Jafar Hassan’s
government will be limited and comes in fulfillment of a
constitutional requirement following the merger of the Ministry of
Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific
Research into the “Ministry of Education and Human Resources
Development.”
The office told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the reshuffle
will include the appointment of two deputy prime ministers to
strengthen and empower the Economic Modernization and Services
committees, giving them greater capacity to follow up on portfolios
and projects and accelerate the pace of work and implementation.
The office added that the government’s priority at this stage is to
move forward with implementing major national projects that are
essential to the Kingdom’s development and economy, cannot afford
delays, and require the relevant ministers to continue overseeing
their completion. The same applies to draft laws and legislation that
serve the political, economic, and administrative modernization
tracks.
The prime minister, it explained, is seeking to establish a different
approach to managing the government team, based on accumulated
experience and cohesion among its members. The office noted that the
prime minister has not brought a new minister into his government
since the first reshuffle during the government’s first year,
reflecting an approach aimed at maintaining the team’s stability and
giving its members sufficient time to work and assume responsibility
for the portfolios entrusted to them.
