Mafraq, Aug. 23 (Petra) – Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Sunday
inaugurated the Granada Co-educational Secondary School in Mafraq,
marking the start of the new academic year, and inspected health,
educational and service facilities across the northeastern and
northwestern Badia as part of his ongoing field visits.

The Granada school is among 14 schools established in less than a
year with private-sector support through corporate social
responsibility initiatives and 86 new schools built by the government
during the same period, in addition to classroom expansion and
kindergarten projects.

The prime minister was briefed on the school, which was built on a
9-dunum site covering more than 2,900 square meters at a cost
exceeding JD1.7 million and has a capacity of 540 students.

The three-story school includes 18 classrooms, three laboratories, a
teachers’ room, a sports field and activity areas, serving students
from kindergarten through secondary school. Its construction has also
eliminated the need to use a rented school building.

In the Hawsha district of the Northwest Badia, Hassan inspected the
Hamra Basic Co-educational School and directed the addition of 10
classrooms, renovation of its facilities and grounds, and the
establishment of a science laboratory and kindergarten classrooms to
better serve the local community.

The prime minister also followed up on renovation work at North Badia
Hospital, which he had ordered during an earlier field visit. He
directed that the work be expedited and completed before the end of
the year. He also instructed that the hospital be provided with the
necessary qualified staff and modern equipment to improve the quality
of healthcare services.

At the al-Akader Sub-Health Center in the Northwest Badia, Hassan
directed that the facility be reinforced with medical personnel,
equipped with the necessary supplies and undergo comprehensive
maintenance. He also ordered the rehabilitation and equipping of the
adjacent park to serve as a public space for the local community.

During a visit to the Early Intervention Unit for People with
Disabilities in Hamra, Hassan directed the construction of a new
building to replace the current rented premises, aiming to improve
the efficiency of services provided to beneficiaries in six
surrounding villages.

The Premier also directed that the unit be provided with
transportation and the necessary educational and rehabilitation
equipment to support people with disabilities in the area.
