Pope: situation in Gaza “saddening”, appeals for access of aid

Amman, May 21 (Petra) – Pope Leo XIV urged Israel on Wednesday to allow the entry of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, calling the situation there “yet worrying and saddening.”

The Pope said in his weekly general audience in St. Peter’s Square: “I renew my fervent appeal to allow for the entry of fair humanitarian help and to bring to an end the hostilities, the devastating price of which is paid by children, the elderly and the sick,” the pope, quoted by Reuters, said.
