Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris has reaffirmed the Government of Hope’s commitment to facilitating the voluntary return of Sudanese nationals living abroad. The remarks came during his chairing of a special meeting on voluntary return held in Khartoum on Thursday.  The meeting brought together the Ministers of Justice, Energy, and Human Resources and Social Welfare, the Commissioner-General for Humanitarian Aid, the Chairman of the Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation, and representatives of national airlines—Sudanair, Tarco and Badr Airways. In a press statement, Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Mua’tasim Ahmed Salih said the meeting concluded with a commitment from the Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation to assist and contribute to the return of Sudanese nationals residing in Gulf countries through direct flights or sea transport. He added that the national airlines expressed a strong willingness to support the return of Sudanese citizens from Uganda and Libya, noting that travel from those countries can only be undertaken by air.  The minister said the meeting also agreed on a number of important directives that will be translated into a direct-action programme over the coming days. He further announced plans to launch a new electronic platform for voluntary return applications, through which applicants will be categorised according to priority needs. Mua’tasim Ahmed Salih reaffirmed the Government of Hope’s commitment and keen interest in facilitating the return of Sudanese nationals from various countries of residence in accordance with fair and equitable criteria.BH/BH
