Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris on Friday evening attended the closing ceremony of the 72nd Sudanese Armed Forces Day celebrations in Khartoum. The ceremony was attended and addressed by President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. TSC Member and Chief of Staff, General Yasser Al-Atta, also attended, along with a number of TSC members, ministers, state walis and region governors, military, security, police and executive officials, and leaders of armed struggle movements. Addressing the closing ceremony, Prime Minister Kamil Idris saluted the officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces stationed on the front lines, defending the homeland, and praised the Armed Forces’ sacrifices and role in defending the country’s sovereignty and the Sudanese nation. Professor Kamil Idris said the Armed Forces have the initiative, commending the major and continued victories they have achieved on the various fronts in the Greater Kordofan region. “The Armed Forces will liberate every inch of this great homeland that has been defiled by the terrorist rebel militias,” he said. The Prime Minister said the closing evening of the celebrations was a historic occasion carrying significant and lofty messages that express the spirit of this great nation. “Today, we are in the presence of a homeland whose will cannot be broken, a people whose dignity and honor cannot be violated, and an army whose dignity, honor and capabilities cannot be diminished by anyone, whoever they may be,” he said. The Prime Minister praised the solidarity between the Sudanese people and their Armed Forces, describing it as a historic epic unprecedented in human history. He also described the Sudanese Armed Forces as one of the strongest armies in the world. He saluted the Armed Forces, the Joint Forces, the General Intelligence Service, the police, and all those who contributed, through their ideas, writings, words or efforts, to the “Battle of Dignity,” in which, he said, the Sudanese nation emerged victorious.The Prime Minister also participated in honoring a number of Armed Forces officers and national figures.BH/BH
