Prime Minister Kamil Idris: Liberation of Darfur Is Imminent

Khartoum, 6 August 2026 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris said that the liberation of Darfur is “very close” and that the matter is no longer a subject for debate. Dr. Kamil congratulated the Sudanese Armed Forces, the General Intelligence Service, the Joint Forces, and the popular mobilization forces on the victories achieved across several fronts, saying these successes would pave the way for restoring control over every inch of Sudanese territory. The Prime Minister made the remarks on Thursday while addressing the Social Peace Festival held in Khartoum, which was attended by a wide participation of youth, women, native administrations, and Sufi orders. He described the gathering as a step toward national healing, praising the active participation of the Sudanese Council of Churches. He said the festival brought together Sudanese people from different backgrounds to reject hate speech, regionalism, and racism, and to unite the nation around a shared purpose. He affirmed that Sudan would present the world with a “peace of the brave.” Dr. Kamil called on all Sudanese people, particularly Sufi orders and native administrations, to contribute to a comprehensive national healing process and work to restore social cohesion. He stressed the importance of the Higher Council for Social Peace playing an active role at this critical stage and taking a leading role in managing social peace and national reconciliation. He added that Sudan, with its ancient civilization and vast resources, has the capacity to play a leading role internationally.BH/BH
