Prime Minister Meets Turkish President in Ankara

Ankara, May 20, 2026 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Kamil Idris met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, in the presence of Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and ministers from the economic sectors of both countries, where the two sides discussed bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation. President Erdoğan welcomed the Sudanese government delegation and reaffirmed Ankara’s support for Sudan’s stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He also conveyed his greetings to the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. The Turkish president welcomed the resumption of the joint economic committee between the two countries and expressed Türkiye’s readiness to share its expertise in clean energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and joint development projects. For his part, Prime Minister Kamil Idris conveyed the appreciation of the TSC President, the Sudanese government and people to Türkiye — its leadership, government, and people — for their strong support for Sudan on various issues, describing Türkiye as a strategic partner of Sudan. The prime minister also called on Turkish and Sudanese private sector companies to establish direct partnerships in investment and reconstruction projects in Sudan, stressing the importance of maintaining the work of the joint economic committee and following up on implementation of its outcomes in a way that serves the interests of both countries and peoples.BH/BH
