Khartoum, April 6, 2026 (SUNA) — Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting youth and sports programs and pledged to double the sector’s budget to enhance its role in national development and stability. He made the remarks while attending the International Sports Day celebration organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, alongside Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ahmed Adam Ahmed, Defense Minister Lieutenant General Hassan Dawoud Kabron, and Khartoum State Wali Ahmed Othman Hamza. The Prime Minister directed the upgrading of Soba training grounds to international standards and the activation of all sports facilities inside and outside Sudan to foster nationwide sports development. He also instructed state walis and region governors to prevent encroachment on areas designated for sports and cultural activities. Minister of Youth and Sports emphasized that the event highlights sports’ role in promoting peace and sustainable development and underlined the message that Khartoum remains safe and stable. He praised athletes for standing with the Armed Forces in the Battle for Dignity. The program included a walk from Al-Mogran area to the Ministry of Youth and Sports headquarters in Omdurman, with the Prime Minister, Defense Minister, Sports Minister, and Khartoum Wali participating.BH/BH
