Prime Minister Reviews Cooperation with the World Food Programme

Khartoum, April 9, 2026 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris affirmed the government’s commitment to removing impediments and strengthening cooperation with the World Food Programme (WFP) to enable it to deliver humanitarian assistance across Sudan. This came during his meeting with WFP Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Carl Skau and Country Director Abdullah Al-Wardat, in the presence of Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid. Following the meeting, Skau announced plans to relocate the WFP’s operational headquarters back to Khartoum, citing improvements in basic services and reconstruction efforts. The discussions covered mechanisms to support farmers’ return to production areas, adoption of local food procurement policies, expansion of school feeding programs, and support for vulnerable groups. The meeting also stressed the need to sustain urgent humanitarian interventions in Kordofan and Darfur to assist displaced populations.BH/BH
