PSD Introduces Electronic Money Transfers for Correctional Center Inmates

Amman, Aug. 11 (Petra) — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has
introduced an electronic money transfer service for inmates at
correctional and rehabilitation centers, enabling families to send
funds remotely without having to visit the facilities.

Launched in cooperation with Jordan Post and Alawneh Exchange, the
service allows inmates’ families to transfer up to JD100 per week
electronically under approved procedures and regulations.

Jordan Post and Alawneh Exchange will process the transfers on
Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week, with the funds
subsequently transferred to the relevant correctional and
rehabilitation centers.

The PSD said direct deposits at correctional centers will remain
available, giving families the option to continue using the existing
payment method.

The service is part of the directorate’s broader digital
transformation drive aimed at simplifying procedures, reducing
transaction times and improving the efficiency and accessibility of
services provided to inmates and their families.

The PSD said the initiative also supports efforts to modernize
operations within correctional and rehabilitation centers by
introducing digital solutions designed to improve the speed and
accuracy of transactions.
